Who are we?
Meet Pumpkin
Pumpkin is tiny, white, and adorable. Gentle, curious and full of character, he connects with children, creating heartwarming moments.
Families say their children remember Pumpkin for years, cherishing the magic, comfort, and joy he brings. He inspires confidence, sparks imagination, and helps children to express their feelings and emotions.
Meeting Pumpkin is a magical memory that lasts a lifetime.

What to expect
The adventure begins
Children start their Outdoor Experience by choosing one of our beautiful dresses and then adding a pair of magical fairy wings. Lots of families choose to bring their own costume. It is important to us that children feel comfortable.
Searching for a Unicorn
The adventure begins with a search to find a real unicorn. We all take a gentle walk to the enchanted woods with the hope of catching a glimpse of Pumpkin. Occasionally, hoof prints are spotted along the way, building excitement and suspense.
Finding Pumpkin
Children are in wide-eyed awe when they finally set eyes on Pumpkin. To ensure that everybody feels safe and comfortable, introductions are made at the children’s own pace as they learn how to respect and stay safe around unicorns
Becoming Best Friends
Children spend time grooming, petting, and bonding with their new best friend – falling in love with this gentle and cheeky companion.
Making Memories
Next – a little walk together with Pumpkin through the woods, where the photoshoot begins. We will capture posed and candid moments on the way to the fairy steps.
Building Confidence
Children are entrusted with the gentle responsibility of caring for Pumpkin and keeping him safe — building communication, problem-solving, risk awareness, and social skills along the way.
Sharing Stories
It’s time to find a quiet spot where children can share their favourite book with Pumpkin – a moment of connection and imagination.
The Secret Ending
There is one last thing to do. Like all the best adventures, this one has a secret ending that ensures the magic of Pumpkin lives on long after the day is over.

Questions we get asked
What age is The Outdoor Experience best suited for?
The Outdoor Experience is ideally suited to children aged 3 to 10 (older children and adults are welcome but costumes are not provided).
For children under 3, please get in touch.
How much does it cost?
We offer two packages, depending on how much time you’d like to spend with Pumpkin and how many digital images you’d like included. Get in touch to find out which option is the best fit for you.
How long does the experience last?
Depending on the package you choose, you will be with us for 1½ or 2 hours.
What time is the Outdoor Experience?
A morning experience starts at 10am / 10:30am. An afternoon experience starts at 1pm / 1:30pm.
Where does the Outdoor Experience take place?
Our Outdoor Experience takes place at Summerlee Museum in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire (Central Scotland).
Summerlee has parking and can easily be accesed by train from Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Does the Outdoor Experience run all year round?
We run the Outdoor Experience between April and September.
During term time, The Outdoor Experience is available on Saturdays and Sundays.
It is advisable to book well in advance (often months) if you are looking for a specific date.
In November and December we run The Chrismas Experience which takes place indoors at Summerlee Museum.
How far ahead should I book?
To avoid disappointment, it is advisable to book as far ahead as possible if you are looking for a specific date.
If you’ve only just found us, get in touch. We may still have last-minute availability.
What if I want to bring siblings too?
We’d love for siblings to come too. Whether they are taking part or just tagging along, please get in touch.
How many adults can come?
We suggest a maximum of 2 adults, but if you’d like to bring more we can discuss it when we chat on the phone.
What if my child is nervous?
When we talk on the phone, before you make your booking, we’ll ask about how much contact your child has had with Unicorns before and we chat about any worries you may have. When you arrive, we take everything at your child’s pace, making sure that they feel comfortable.
Can we bring our own costume/dress/outfit?
Yes, you certainly can. Your child being comfortable and happy is most important to us. We should hopefully be able to fit our wings with your costume, should your child want to wear them, but it’s best to check it with us beforehand if you’re wanting to make sure.
What should we bring on the day?
Please bring your outfit/costume/dress/flower crown/wings if you are providing your own.
Your child’s dressing gown in case they feel chilly.
A snack for afterwards as they often build up an appetite! (Please, no drinks / food to be consumed during the experience, apart from water).
It can sometimes be muddy in one particular place in the wood if it’s been raining so please bring suitable footwear for everyone.
Can I take photos on my mobile phone?
You’re welcome to use your mobile phone to take photos and videos. We just kindly ask that you pause while the professional photos are being taken. Thanks for your understanding.
What if my child wants to bring friends?

When do I get to see the photographs?
Within 10 working days, you will receive a link to your private online gallery of wartermarked digital proofs to review.
Can you do a photo shoot at my house or a venue?
Please get in touch to discuss your ideas and we’ll do our very best to make them happen.
Do you do parties at the Outdoor Experience?
No, this particular experience is best suited to one child, or siblings.
We do offer The Party Experience – an exclusive visit to your home or venue.
When do I pay?
To secure your date (weather dependent), we ask for a non-refundable deposit to be paid at the time of booking.
I like to speak to everyone on the telephone before I accept any deposit, to ensure you and I have all the information we both need for the booking.
The remaining balance is paid on the day of your experience.
Payments may be made by Paypal, Bank Transfer or Cash.
Can I purchase a gift voucher?
Gift Vouchers are available, with or without a pre-booked date.
